Applicants are normally in their final year of high school, or the equivalent. Applicants who attend (or attended) college or university but who did not complete a minimum of two semesters of full time study are considered for first year. There are three ways to apply; Direct Application form, UCAS, or the Common Application. Application route used does not affect the decision on an application. A completed application consists of the application form, a full high school transcript, a Supplemental Essay (called the Personal Statement on UCAS) and an academic reference. Applicants apply to a specific programme and Faculty. Some applicants may be offered a place on a waitlist for our most popular degrees. We are rolling admissions and do not have an option to apply EA or ED. Our average decision time is around 9 weeks.
Transfer applicants should have completed two or more semesters of full-time study at a recognised institution. Transfer applicants must submit an official transcript from their current institution, and include an explanation of any non-standard marking systems. We also require an academic transcript from your high school (or equivalent) containing your final-year marks, and a high school profile. A copy of your university/college syllabus should be included to establish which of your courses are common to our degree programme. Where possible, we will transfer credits to the total needed for a degree award. Some applicants may be offered a place on a waitlist for our most popular degrees. I feel extremely privileged to have found a home away from home at St Andrews. The international community, challenging learning environment, and access to a wealth of opportunities in the UK and beyond were just a few of the attributes that drew me to St Andrews and have continued to impress me every day.
