Each year, Buffalo State welcomes more than 1,400 new first-year students to campus. Admission for first-year students —those who have not previously attended a college or university —is based on academic performance in high school and on space availability. The college looks for a broad, balanced high school education that includes English, mathematics, science, a language other than English, and social studies. Successful applicants will be those who submit a completed application with a demonstrated competitive high school curriculum.
Hundreds of transfer students—those who have previously attended a college or university—choose to further their education at Buffalo State each year. Transfer admission is based on postsecondary academic performance and space availability. Buffalo State requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) to be considered for admission to the college. Several programs are more competitive and may require higher GPAs, specific coursework, auditions, or portfolios for admission. Successful applicants will be those who submit a completed application (i.e., application form, transcripts from all institutions attended, and proof of high school graduation).
“This is a special place that does incredible work in moving its students forward. In short, Buffalo State transforms lives.”
