We consider a broad range of achievement, recognizing that excellence comes in many forms. Our admission process values academic preparation (courses and grade performance), writing, co-curricular involvement, and the ability to contribute to our community. Davidson is test-optional for all admission and scholarship programs. First-year students may learn more about specific admission requirements on our web site.
We welcome students transferring to Davidson from other colleges or universities for the fall and spring semesters. The application deadline for the spring semester is November 1, with notification of decisions in late November. The application deadline the fall semester is April 1, with notification of decisions by early June.
Our focus on talents and capacities—writing and speaking clearly, analyzing complex problems from multiple perspectives, working collaboratively to formulate approaches to unsolvable problems, compassion, resilience, self-discipline, and moral courage—is one of our greatest strengths. At the same time, the specific subjects, programs, and methods through which we develop these talents change over time—in light of the changing economy and world.
